In the fall of 2014, Hickory completed work on a new facility for the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church. The 15,800-square-foot worship center provided 3,000 more square feet than the church’s previous location. Construction was completed in cooperation with the design firm Johnson Architecture, Inc.
The building’s single-slope roof serves as a distinguishing exterior feature while also creating a dramatic interior space, highlighted by wood-look ceiling tile and recessed lighting. Polished concrete floors are found throughout much of the building, and the exterior grounds showcase extensive landscaping and access paths. Multicolored brick veneer and exposed concrete contribute to the facility’s updated, modern appearance.
