Fort Dickerson Park includes 85-acres of green space, hiking and mountain biking trails, a quarry lake, and a historic Civil War fort. Previously, the entrance was hard to find and dangerous to navigate. A generous donation from the Aslan Foundation enabled the improvements to be made. Hickory Construction was honored to construct the park’s entrance improvements, which include landscaping, signage, a new transit stop, and a decorative veneer for the 30-foot-high retaining wall with matching stone piers. A low stacked stone wall was added around the circular lawn at the base of the entrance. A new sidewalk leads to Fort Dickerson Road and stairs lead visitors from the lawn to a mid-block crosswalk at Chapman Highway.
