What You Can Expect

handshake
Nice to Meet You.

We start with a simple, informal meeting. That’s it. No strings, no stress, just a safe space to get to know each other. We want you to know who we are and likewise, we want to know you and the vision you have for the project you are considering. We answer lots of questions and ask a few of our own. For example, we may ask if you are considering an architect, or if you are looking for design-build options.

Knowledge is Power.

Next, we gather as much information as possible about your project. In addition to the detailed plans for your project, we want to find out if you have any concerns or specific needs. For example, you might need to keep your office functional during a renovation, or you might want our advice on saving old growth trees on your construction site. Meanwhile, we fully explain the business side of how Hickory works and what you can expect during this “information” stage of our relationship.

Time & Numbers.

After analyzing the information gathered, Hickory will generate an accurate, realistic estimate. This is the point at which we review with you the project estimate and schedule. We discuss each piece of the project, the estimated costs and the time it will take to finish. With your input and questions, we stay on the same page and make any final revisions.

Signing on the Dotted Line.

After reviewing the estimate and schedule, we will offer you a contract to begin work. We will explain exactly what you can expect and how we keep an eye on your bottom line. We show you how Hickory monitors costs with weekly budget and schedule reviews. We explain how Hickory secures all the financial details on a computer back-up. We show you what invoices look like and when to expect billing.

Construction Starts Here.

With the contract in place, we immediately engage in negotiations for supplier and subcontractor agreements. At this point, you will meet with your construction team, including the Project Manager and the on-site Superintendent. They deliver enormous value by ensuring the day-to-day construction on your site stays on schedule. From start to finish, they schedule all crews, deliveries and monitor quality control and budget.
