Building an “Extreme” Foundation

(Alcoa, TN) – Alcoa-based Hickory Construction, Inc. is lending its expertise for the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” build that will produce a new home for a Knoxville family in a week.  Hickory is part of the build team recruited by the television show to complete the complex construction project.

“Hickory has long supported a variety of community-based programs,” says Burke Pinnell, President of Hickory Construction.  “We believe in giving back to the community that has supported Hickory for 35 years.”

When the project breaks ground next Tuesday, Hickory Project manager, Ben Pinnell will help manage the first phase, which includes demolition of the existing home through construction of the new foundation walls. “This initial process is scheduled to take roughly 32 hours,” says Pinnell.  “While I am excited about ‘the build’ and its opportunities; it can’t compare to the return you feel for lifting up a deserving family.”

Pinnell is one of about half dozen project managers recruited from area construction companies for the build.  “So far, it has been incredibly interesting being a part of the logistical team that will pull this off,” says Pinnell.
