What’s Up with the Heat from Below?

Using ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) is a very effective way to centrally heat and cool your space.  Hickory Construction has experience installing both vertical and horizontal ground loop systems in residential and commercial settings.

The largest of the “geo-exchange” systems in Hickory’s portfolio are located in Chattanooga, Tennessee on a 30-acre military campus where both vertical and horizontal loops are used.  More than 50,000 feet of pipe was installed in the ground to provide geothermal heat and air for the Tennessee Air National Guard’s new communications and electronics training facility.  Next door, Hickory utilized a series of 55 vertical loops at depths of over 300 feet to condition 60,000 square feet of space in the Army Reserve Center.

Residential installations are becoming more affordable through Tennessee State Incentives.  Some of Hickory’s residential projects include a horizontal ground loop system for a mountain home as well as an underwater grid currently under construction for a home on the Tennessee River.

Hickory applauds clients for choosing geothermal as their preferred source for heating and cooling as it eases the demand for electric energy produced by fossil fuels.   Click here to learn more about GSHP’s and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about how Hickory can help you with your next project.
