High Tech Animal Care for UT’s Vet School

It takes a lot of concrete to house a linear accelerator used for medical and oncology radiation therapy. Concrete walls 8-feet in thickness are an integral part of the new small animal teaching hospital at the University of Tennessee Center for Veterinary Medicine. Hickory Construction managed the project that will provide a world-class education to students and new treatments for patients.

In addition to the linear accelerator, the Vet School addition includes more space for canine physical rehabilitation that includes a heated therapy pool and two underwater treadmills. There are also new areas for avian and zoological medicine.

While some of Hickory’s crews managed the Vet School project, others put the finishing touches on a new greenhouse at U.T. where students are learning about hydroponics.
