Hickory Prepares for LEED Project - Chattanooga National Guard Training Complex
(Alcoa, TN) - Alcoa-based Hickory Construction, Incorporated is preparing to break ground on a new Communications Training complex for the 241st Engineering & Installation Squadron of the Tennessee Air National Guard in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Located on a 24 acre tract off Bonny Oaks Drive, the project will include construction of a 25,000 sq. ft. Communications Building for offices, training rooms and supply areas. A 6900 sq. ft. Vehicle Maintenance Building will feature maintenance bays, a wash bay, storage areas and support space. A third 3000 sq. ft. covered area will be constructed for vehicle parking. The communications Training Complex is a LEED Silver Project. The leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is a third party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED strategies aim to improve performance of energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, resource stewardship and indoor environmental quality.
The training complex is designed by Karengaye M. Johnson of Architect's Internation and C2RL, Incorporated Engineers.
